Hello everyone! My fiance and I plan to get married in the Phillipines in 2016. My problem right now is that she has a 4 year old son who is using the father's last name. I was just wondering if someone could shed some light for me regarding whether or not I need to declare her son in the sponsoring application for my fiance? I know I need the father's consent in order to adopt him but we don't intend to bring him to Canada until he is atleast 10 years old so we can focus on work. He will be looked after by his grandmother until then. Thank you very much!
Thank you very much everyone! One more question. If the biological dad doesn't give his permission for us to take the child to Canada, will that affect my fiance's chances of getting approved? Thank you!
It will delay things. Note you have to include her child on the application and he will have to get a medical but he can be listed as non-accompanying. Then you and your wife can sponsor him later. He doesn't have to come to Canada with her. So getting the father's permission to take him to Canada is not needed yet.
