Hi, I am helping a friend of mine to complete the PR spousal sponsorship. I have a question on the IMM 1344 under sponsor personal details Number 7

It asked as followed: If you are a permanent resident or naturalized canadian citizen, provide the following:
a) date on which you obtained this status (whichever is more recent). *Date.

The issue I have is the friend has the old citizenship card that lists only the year. But the application ask for YYYY-MM-DD. If I entered 2000 as an example, it turns into 2000-01-01, Jan 01, 2000.

Is it expected for the application to say 2000-01-01 if you only have year of citizenship date on card?

I appreciate any feedback.

If he doesn't remember, he needs to pick a date and explain on a separate sheet.

Thanks. For the feedback. I got the exact date from the sponsor. However the bizarre thing was that the citizenship card listed year 2000, yet his/her citizenship certificate listed 2002-MM-DD. I believe IRCC may have mistakenly listed year 2000 on the citizenship card.
