Question about 'security check'

Hi guys, I called cic last week and the agent told me my status is medical & criminality & eligibility has passed, and the security check is in process now. I'm just wondering is the 'security check' a normal step for everyone? Is it a different thing from 'security screening' which is a in-depth investigation that will take a year or more to finish?

my timeline is:
AOR: 31 May
MEP/IP1: 14 June
IP2: 27 June

Its normal procedure. Do not worry.

Everyone goes through security check. They take your biographical info and run it through different databases.
Depending on certain factors you will be chosen for comprehensive check which will take 6 months to 2 years.
