So I received PPR in early September, however I just received an email Friday asking for proof of financial support. Question is, are they looking for proof that my sponsor can support me, or are they asking for proof that I can support myself? Its a bit of a catch 22 to me. I mean, technically I'm not allowed to work or even look for work in Canada while my outland PR is processed, so other than telling them that my wife will be supporting me, I don't know what else I can say. I've been out of work most of this year, so I have no proof of funds or support. I rely totally on my wife at the moment. The most frustrating part is that I thought the process was almost over and that I was just waiting for COPR, and then I'm shocked to find that they've suddenly went 'Oh, by the way, you have to prove that you can live here". Sure is a good thing that I didn't have to send my physical passport or I'd be really irritated.
Basically, they are looking for proof that you guys won't need to go on welfare.
You can send your wife's payslips, proof of any savings or investments either of you have, letters from your families pledging financial support or a place to live, a plan on how you will get a job when you become a PR, etc.

Thanks for the info. The email doesn't say specifically whether I need to send the physical documents to Ottawa, or just email them. So I will try emailing them first.
