Hello folks,
I am a Canadian citizen who is going to sponsor my wife living abroad. Im confused about one question in the checklist.
SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS FOR SPONSOR
4. Previous Relationships
Have you (the sponsor) previously been sponsored yourself for permanent residence ?
So back in 2007 when the rules were different, my brother sponsored for PR. So do I write Yes or No to the above question ?
Im just confused since this question is under "Previous Relationships", what if they want to know whether I myself was sponsored by an ex spouse ?
If you have been sponsored by anyone to be PR ..you should write Yes

What specific program? There is no sibling sponsorship. There are economic immigration programs where a sibling could support and contribute to an economic app but that is not sponsorship. Were you a dependent in a parent sponsorship application?

Yes. My brother applied for my parents and I was a dependant under 18 at that time.
Same here. My sister sponsored my parents and I was a dependent at the time. I selected 'YES' on the form. I used a lawyer for my application, and he didn't say anything about it so I assume that was correct.

Put Yes and explain on a separate sheet.

My wife’s sister had sponsored her parents and my wife long ago. We put YES and mentioned full name of her sister and put their relationship as (Sister) in brackets. Did not explain on a sheet either. Had no problems with the application.
