Question about my employment history as a business owner

Regarding Question #11 on the citizenship application form.

I started a small business (corporate type) in early 2017 and am the only owner and shareholder. This business didn't make any money in 2017 thus I did't salary(no T4 and stuffs issued) or pay dividend to myself. In this case, am I self-employed or unemployed?

BTW: Not until Jan 2018 I started salarying myself, so I think I am employed in 2018?
Please kindly give advice, thanks a lot in advance, guys.

You are Self-Employed. It doesn`t matter your earned money or not.

You are the owner of company that means you are the self-employer. It doesn`t matter you got salary or dividend.

Hello,

I had the same case like you. I wrote the name of my business (Business number) and duration of time for which i have it. For address, i wrote the address where my firm was incorporated.
