question about medical

I was wondering what exactly the medical was used for in the sponsorship process. I went to the doctor earlier this week and it was simple enough. I have an eye condition since birth that leaves me with a torn retina that needs to be checked on by a specialist every year to make sure I'm not getting worse. The doctor made a copy of my eye doctor report that I brought but did not copy the report from my retina specialist that says I need to get checked every year. I've tried to call the doctor who did the medical to see if they need the paper but they won't answer my calls. Will this somehow affect the care I will get once I'm a PR? Should I include a copy with my immigration file? I also didn't get anything back from the doctor to send to CIC.

Don't worry. The reason for the medical is to ensure that you don't have any transmittable disease like active TB. I would think it's up to the doctor to decide which report gives him enough information, so if he feels he doesn't need a copy of the specialist report then I wouldn't worry about it. It will definitely not have any effect on the care that you receive once you become a PR. CIC does not send the information to doctors here so you will need to bring a copy of your reports when you visit a family doctor in Canada for the first time.

The doctor should have given you copy 2 of form IMM 1017. This is your proof that you had the medical done and you must submit it with your application. If the doctor didn't give this to you then you need to contact them and get the form from them.
