Hi, I am planning to go to Toronto around last week of August, is it the right time to go there, considering the weather and other factors.
My second question is what is the best mode to take money. My consultant provides the service of opening an account with Nova Scotia Bank free of charge before going to Canada. Can we transfer the required money (around CAD 17,000 for 3 persons) in the bank and show the account statement to IO at the time of landing. Or should we take cash or travellers checks or bank drafts.
It is your decision when you want to land. In September, it starts to get cold. If you have a small kid, you need to take extra precaution as kids would take time to adapt to new weather. Otherwise, there is no such problem. It also can inhibit one's ability in job search as commuting (if you dont have a car) would be hard due to cold.
Regarding the money, yes you can open an account with Scotia bank and show the statement of account at the point of entry. No problem with that. You can keep some cash 200-300 ready for use in case you require that, eg for taxi or some other expense you have to do until you go to bank and withdraw money. Not sure if you get the client card (ATM) when you open your bank from India right away.

Summer in July would be the best time to come to toronto. helps you set up before the cold sets in. Aug, sept, oct should be nice with fall setting in. You can easily get a TTC bus pass (costs around 125$ a month) at the sherbourne station. Its a very convenient way to get around. Aug and Sept is the unofficial hiring season after summer (summer is when most families take vacation).
Its better if you come before that to get you used to Tdot.
thanks ghatot201....actually I would be landing in Toronto, but my distination is Mississauga....I would be putting up for first few months at my relative's place and possibly finding a job and a rented accomodation (after few months) in Mississauga or nearby Brampton area.
