Hello. The immigration website is as convoluted and unclear as I usually find it on this specific matter too, so welcome any guidance. The "employer letters". I've worked in 7 countries thus far, and about 5 employers. Over 17 years of experience. How far back do we need to go with these letters? All of them, or just the last 5-10 years?

You can only claim points for the work experience of the past 10 years.

For simplicity add only the jobs in the work history section for which you wish to claim points and/or for those that help you be eligible under the FSW program.

Thank you DelPiero. Very helpful. Is there some way to clearly calculate how the points will be calculated for each employer? I have what will seem to be a chequered history since 2017:

  1. 2007 to 2008 - one company (which I didn't like and would rather not deal with them)
  2. 2009 to 2011 - no problem
  3. 2011 to late 2012 - my own freelancing, so no "employer" although I did have a company
  4. 2012 onwards is very clear and no problem
So it's 1 and 3 that I'd like to avoid. But if I get lots of points, then I may have to contact the employer in #1, or do my own letter in #3 for my own company? Is it worth it?

Honestly your work experience alone from 2012 onwards would grant you the maximum CRS points. You can only claim CRS points for up to 3 years of foreign work experience and up to 6 years under the six selection factors to be eligible under the FSW program.

If you include 2 and 4 you'd be claiming the maximum points for both of these. No need to include 1 and 3.
