I am planning a apply for a visitor visa to visit Canada this year during thanksgiving. I am on H1B and my US visa does not expire till early next year.

I went through the checklist of documents required and had the following queries

1) With my application do I need to submit confirmed air and hotel reservations in Canada or do I need to provide a word document with my detailed proposed itinerary? I do not want to do any hotel or air bookings till I get my visa approved

2) Can I submit the photocopy of my I-797 i.e H1B petition and not the original copy?

3) I am going to courier the documents to the Los Angeles consulate (I stay in San Francisco). What do I need to do to get back my passports that I would submit alongwith the application.? Do I need to enclose a prepaid envelope?

Please provide some feedback. Thanks in advance!

Hi,

You can see the checklist on this website: http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/los_angeles/visas/trv-apply_demande-vrt.aspx?view=d

If the embassy needs original as stated on the checklist you should mail the original doc/s otherwise your applications will be returned to you :)

Thank you for the feedback. I have checked the list and had doubts when I was interpreting them. These were especially around

1) With my application do I need to submit confirmed air and hotel reservations in Canada or do I need to provide a word document with my detailed proposed itinerary? I do not want to do any hotel or air bookings till I get my visa approved

2) I am going to courier the documents to the Los Angeles consulate (I stay in San Francisco). What do I need to do to get back my passports that I would submit alongwith the application.? Do I need to enclose a prepaid envelope?

If I can get a clear view on these would appreciate the same.
