Quebec work permit but reside in Ontario (Ottawa Region)

Hi,

I searched for a similar thread but could not find any.
Need some inputs from experts on my situation. I have been offered a job in a company in Quebec (Gatineau) and they are facilitating Quebec work permit for me. I plan to apply for PR using CEC route in next 1 year hence I don't want to stay in Gatineau (Quebec). For those who don't know Gatineau is just across the river in Ottawa and it lies in Quebec. I have some questions related to this situation of mine:

1. I did some research and I think it is legal for me to stay in Ottawa while on a Quebec work permit but I will lose provincial health coverage and I will have to manage my own health insurance. Is this correct?
2. What other benefits do I stand to lose? For e:g would my kid (6 y) face any difficulty in getting admission in schools in Ottawa?
3. I am expecting my wife to get a open work permit, would she be allowed to work in Ottawa (Ontario)?
