Hello folks,

Please help me in addressing the below question.

Q13 Have you ever held immigration or citizenship status in any country other than Canada, including your country of birth?

I have studied in Australia. I have put myself as student in the status column. However i am confused with Date obtained/effective date, and end date columns.

The visa was issued in April 2008, the visa was valid till March 2010.

I went for my studies in August 2008, and I left the country in December 2009.

What will be my effective and end dates in those columns?

Thanks

I don't know the correct answer to your questions, but you can always answer it one way and then add a sheet of paper with the question number on it and write a brief and to the point explanation. I did that in my employment history as I'd had some parental leave that ran concurrent to my full time job I was on leave from and I wanted to explain the situation so there was no confusion.
It must have been good enough as they didn't even ask about it at the interview.

Study visa is not immigration or citizenship . I don’t think you need to list this at all, is my opinion.

They have "student"/"worker" in the choices available. This makes it likely that you should state those as well.
I personally put my J-1 student exchange visa in the US for 4 months in this. Does not hurt in any way, and they will come across it while doing background checks on me.
