Hi all,
Does anyone know how long is the processing time for PRTD from Hong Kong?
My case: I submitted the email application on June 7, and after several email exchanges with IRCC about files being too large, all my package is submitted on June 9. I haven't received anything since then. I need to travel before July 23 in order to renew my driver's, so that's a limiting factor here...
Thanks all~!

Try to link your application to IRCC account using steps given here -
https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio...es/application/account/link-paper-online.html (select application type as PR Card)
If you are able to link, your application processing has started. you can keep checking the status there
Thanks!
Just tried, can't link. Are you sure they'll do this for PRTD?
Yes, they do. I hope you entered correct details while linking - use last name, UCI and place of birth option.
Just bear in mind though, your application will be visible only when your file is loaded on system and processing has started. Keep trying, best luck !

Are you compliant with your residency obligation?
Yes I am. I've been living in HK with my wife who's a Canadian citizen.

That doesn’t mean you are compliant with your RO. How much time did you spend in Canada after receiving your RO?
I landed in 2011, and left Canada in 2013 to work in HK.
I should clarify that I got married in 2016 in HK.

So counting time accompanying your Canadian spouse is far from guaranteed. If you left in 2013 you were likely already not compliant with your RO when you got married to your Canadian spouse. You had already left Canada and your move to HK was not due to your future spouse’s need to live in HK for work, family, studies, etc. Were you compliant with your RO when you got married? Were you already living with your future spouse when you moved to HK? If so, was your move due to her need to be in HK. When it comes to counting time with a Canadian spouse while abroad the issue of who followed whom becomes an issue. The issue is not always enforced. when was the last time you visited Canada? Not sure how renewing your driver’s license will be considered as an urgent factor or why it is necessary at all given that you have not lived in Canada for almost a decade. You will have to wait and see how long it takes for PRTD is processed. Would not book a ticket until the PRTD is approved.
It all depends on how they want to look at my case. I can fly to US and enter Canada from there no matter what.
Just curious, what would happen if I use my HK passport to enter Canada as a visitor instead, without renouncing my PR?

Your Canadian PR should show up because of the same biometric data and you are required to declare that you are a PR. Misrepresenting your status to CBSA is not a very good idea. Could lead to much more trouble. You lose any good will if you lie and if you are trying not to get reported then you want CBSA to be sympathetic to your situation. Yes you can enter Canada via the US. There is a much higher chance of being reported without aPR card. If your PRTD has already flagged for investigation than it will continue even if you withdraw your application. I am not sure how a Canadian driver’s license benefits you if you don’t even have a valid PR card. Seems a very expensive trip just for a driver’s license.
