I received the biometrics request letter for my PR application. I live in Toronto (work visa) and, as you know, there are basically no biometrics collection points open now. I am going to Massachusetts in November to visit some family, and I was wondering if I can give my biometrics there since the ASCs are open. IRCC's website says that you need to "already be legally in the U.S. to go to an ASC", but that is quite vague (I will be there for 10 days visiting family).
Is it OK for me, in this scenario, to give my biometrics there?
That's cool. Walk-ins are not allowed anymore in any USCIS center across US. You have to schedule an appointment online, take your BIL letter, ID proof (Passport). You said you will be there only for 10 days so try to find an appointment as soon as possible. Some centers are booked for at least 2 months.

Thanks. I booked an appointment for Nov 2, but, lo and behold, ServiceCanada called me this morning to collect biometrics in Toronto. So I guess I'm good now
You need to wait for the letter. You can give your biometrics there as long as you don't go there exclusively for that. Border agents can deny your entry if you give that as the main reason for your trip.

Hey,
I just got a call from service Canada from no caller id at 4:30 pm today. I got the appointment for October 22. I am based in London Ontario. Though I already booked an appointment at ASC IN DETROIT for October 27. I am good now.
