I was just compiling evidence of our genuine relationship, and I printed out some bank statements showing I wired most of my pre-marriage savings into our (husband and me) joint bank account. He is the sponsor.
I just wondered if CIC would see this as evidence that our relationship is real (I'm now in Canada visiting my husband long term (essentially, waiting out the PR procedure in Canada)).
On a more paranoid note, is there any chance they'd see this as a red flag? I don't see why they'd see me wiring money to Canada as a bad sign, but this whole PR procedure has made me totally paranoid, since the way CIC thinks and works isn't always how normal people think...
I think joining your finances together is good.
If you wired money to him and aren't included in the bank account, they could see it as a financial business transaction, if you don't have other good relationship proof to back it up.
Well, it's a joint account and we've spent a lot of the money on a downpayment for a house. His name is on the deed and mortgage but mine isn't because I don't have PR yet, we plan to change that once I get PR.
I also have lots of receipts showing I bought furniture for our house and paid for stuff for our wedding and whatnot, so hopefully they don't think this is a business transaction...
I agree with Tink. I am applying for PR with my hubby there in Canada so I understand your paranoidness. If I had transferred my money to him that would be a definite big + for showing that your life is genuine.
Other things you can do to prove if there are doubts is phone records showing calls/texts etc. Have relatives or friends write letters saying they know about your relationship and tell examples of what they know yall have done together etc. Provide lots of photographs. Credit Card statements showing purchases and I went as far as doing a cover letter for each statement saying what we bought or what trip the cc statement was showing proof of.
If you have the original receipts of the furniture and other purchases and such I would scan and send a copy of that as well.
I would also write a note saying that his name is on the mortgage but since you are not PR yet, that will change as soon as you are granted that status, just more reassurance and backing up any doubt.
Leave no stone unturned!
If anything write a cover letter explaining your whole story that would cover any loose ends and explain things. (thats what i am working on atm)
