Proof of funds

I am currently working on my EE application. I am in the Federal Skilled Worker category and I am a bit confused about the proof of funds section. I read somewhere that you don't need to give proof of funds if you have a valid job offer. I do and I am already in Canada and working. Now a consultant told me that is only true if the job offer is supported by an LMIA which mine isn't because I am here on IEC and didn't need an LMIA. My problem is, that I do have the money but I haven't had it in my account for the past 6 months. The consultant told me that it is not unlikely that I would get rejected for this. Does someone have experience with this kind of issue? Any insights that might help?
