I will be applying under non-spp so I will have to show proof of funds this time which will be remaining 1 year tuition fee + $10,000 + some travel expenses and that sums to around 17 lacs. We have planned to do two F.D. as a proof of fund. one of 9 lacs and other of 8 lacs by 10th of april. I will be applying for september intake in July so how old should the F.D be at the time of visa submission. some consultants told me that it should be 4-6 months old. Is a 3 month old F.D valid?

They suggest it to be 4.
But there is no law in the regulation or act (IRPA or IRPR) that the officer will deny you because your fund was shown only 3 months in duration.
You should be fine.

Just show them enough funds because they will ask for it at the port of entry.
Port of entry will be the final determination if you have funds or not.
The visa officer will only see if you have it or not.
If not = deny

What would be the amount of funds that I and my wife must show if my studies are 24 months and I go to the province of Manitoba, I am the student and my wife will go to work. Do I have to demonstrate the funds for the 24 months or only with the funds of the first year is enough?
