I am all set to land in Montreal airport on this Saturday - 26th. Had a Scotiabank account opened via HDFC in India and wire transferred $10,000 but all I have as proof is a small slip that I got sealed from HDFC at the time of the wire transfer request. I am in touch with a bank officer in Scotiabank Montreal and asked for an account statement, but did not get it yet. If somebody has done this before, what proof did you show at the POE? Please advise.
I had contacted the hdfc guys at mumbai and got to know that in case you are landing within a month then a soft form of the bank stmt will be mailed to you....so get that tell HDFC bank to get in touch with scotia bank urgently... also as per senior members like qorax its better to carry tc, drafts thats the best way...

Update - the whole process went real smooth. IMO, the wire transfer is a very good option because you get the funds available to you right from day 1, unlike a bank draft. You don't need to worry about carrying a whole load of cash on hand either. I got the debit card right away as well. Scotiabank has also promised to send the credit card ($1000 limit) within 10 days. A good start for building up the credit. By the way, the immigration officer did not ask me for any proof of funds when I said that I had already wire transferred the money.
Could you please tell me how long the process took .. for applying & getting your account opened with Scotia bank. Did you get the account statement for POF?
