proof of funds required for study permit extension

I need to extend my study permit to another 9 months how much proof of funds I need to show in my account for that im in BC now my college international staff told me to have 10000 CAD is ist that much amount really necessary. I Have 4000CAD in my account n im worried since my study permit is about to expire in 90 days

Immigration is trying to see if you can support yourself during your stay even if you dont have a job.
The official amount is fees + 10,000 but I would listen to your school.

you can show any future scholarship or TA/Ra, if you have one
