Since I am reading that for POF, we should ideally be sending a Bank Letter along with Statements, so I am wondering since I am in India now, how to ask BofA to give me such Bank Letter. Any inputs?

Yes, Bank letter (Balance certificate) is absolutely necessary as it is the main document requested by CIC.
You can e-mail the bank and request for a scanned (coloured) copy of the Balance certificate via e-mail. If they can provide.
