A friend from outside Canada may be interested in applying under the Federal Skilled Worker program, or if he can sufficiently improve his French, under the Quebec Skilled Worker program. Since it is unlikely he would obtain a job offer beforehand, he must show proof of funds to support himself. Does anyone know why the requirement is so much lower for a Quebec applicant ($3,188 for someone with no dependents) than it is for a federal applicant ($12,669)? The cost of living is not that drastically lower in Quebec, so there must be some other reason.
Glad I'm not the only one who has been wondering about this. Hopefully someone on the forum can shed light on this, as I've been unable to find information elsewhere.

Thank you, although I've already seen the information in the first link. I was looking for an explanation about why there is such a huge difference in the personal funds requirement between these two programs.

You are welcome my dear
just bear in mind that you are comparing two different programs and each one has its own criteria of selection. it is not a must they should be the same even if the cost of living would not be that much expensive
