My wife has been accepted to an university in Canada, and now we are in the process of VISA. She will have her Student visa, and I will apply for my open work permit.
Thing is, we have in our hands about 30k canadian dollars in the bank. Which would be more than enough since her first semester will cost about 12k, and our yearly living cost for about 14k (almost 30k dollars)
However, mind you that the cost of 12k is for the SEMESTER, not a yearly cost as the living YEARLY cost.
Would the visa officer request the first tuition to be paid yearly, or the first semester paid + yearly living cost would be enough as Proof of funds?
If you pay first semester tuition, then CIC expects you to have POF to cover second semester tuition + living expenses. I'm sure some have gotten lucky. But the norm is to refuse if you can't demonstrate sufficient funds to cover first year tuition + living expenses.
