Hello,
I am inland FSW, LMIA exempt. I am going to flagpole in Peace Arch, Vancouver. I was wondering do I need to show that $12000 or just showing a letter of employment and pay stubs are enough? I am a couple of grands short now and worried if I try landing now, they may reject my landing and I get stuck between US and Canada forever.
Hi congratulations on getting your PR. I can only dream of that day (if it ever comes for me).
Being a cautious person, I would ensure I had the required level of funds before I do the border crossing. Is it possible to borrow from your parents, or siblings or friends with a promise you will pay them back? It would be such a shame to throw this opportunity to become a PR away over a small issue like this.
I can only tell you that when I flag poled I was asked to provide proof of funds, as it is a requirement under FSW they have the right to ask for it at the border. You might get an officer who doesn't ask for it, you might get an officer that would accept the pay stubs instead but you might also get one who is rigid on the rules. My advise is to cover your bases. Also, the fund requirement for a single person is $12164. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/funds.asp
My friends who flagpoled in Coutts 2 weeks ago was also asked for a proof of funds and also if you're landing with your spouse might as well bring your marriage certificate or common law declaration form. They were also asked to give those documents aside from passport and copr
I think its helpful to have copies of all documents you submitted for your PR application. they might not ask for it but its good to have done some forward planning.
