I am currently extending my study permit. How much funds do i need to show? I currently have gotten a letter from bank showing my account balance, which is about 4k cad. is this sufficient? if not what extra documents should i include and how much funds should i show as proof. Please let me know. Thanks.

I think 10 to 15 grand would be good enough.

It depends on your outstanding tuition fees + 10,000 for living expenses. It is better to show existing funds and proof that you can obtain additional funding (parental support, scholarship etc.) in the future. You should attach as many financial documents they have listed as possible to show your ability to pay tuition and living expenses. If you have paid tuition fees, I would advise you to attach payment receipts as well.
This has been my experience and I have gotten two extension approvals so far. Others might have other insights to offer as well. Hope this helps.
