I have applied for Citizenship and I wanted to know what to fill in form when given at citizenship test:
PROHIBITIONS UNDER THE CITIZENSHIP ACT
1. Are you now, or have you ever been in the last 5 years:
On probation?
I got conditional discharge with 1 year of probation which has been completed in 2016 and my fingerprints has been destroyed and no records are with RCMP now as such. I am clean now.
I am not sure whether to answer yes or no.
If I answer yes, then they can prohibit me from taking oath, if I answer no I am not sure of they can come to know from somewhere.
Is there anyone who had probation and what do you guys have answered to this question?
OF COURSE IRCC WILL BE ABLE TO TELL IF YOU LIED about being on probation ever.
Do you really want to lie on a citizenship application? Especially when lying on a citizenship application can have your citizenship removed even if it's approved?
After 2021 you can answer "no" to this question without lying.
IRCC is informed about charges against PRs and applicants as a matter of course. They likely already have a record that you were charged, conditionally discharged, and had a probation order.
