Hey everyone, so my study permit expired in Dec 30, 2012. I applied for a study permit extension last March 2013 within the 90 day restoration period. I found out that my application was denied around August 2013. I immediately hired an immigration lawyer to start the appeal process. When he got the notes on why my application was denied, the reason was because I didn't take on-campus courses in the Winter of 2013. I was just following the rules that is in the CIC website. It says I cannot take on-campus courses during the restoration period so I took distance ed courses even though it would be easier for me to take on-campus courses.

My lawyer filed the appeal in August 2013. He said I will know the results by February 2014. It is now April and there are still no results. He gave me a website of the Federal Court where I can check the status of my appeal but the last update was on November 2013. I've talked to some people and they said the Federal Court really takes a long time. Are any of you currently or have been in the same situation? It is so hard to stay in Canada without a valid study permit. I don't think going home is an option now since I'm still waiting for the result of my case.

If ever my appeal gets denied, do you think I will be approved if I go home and re-apply?
