Processing time for Canadain visitor visa from London,

I have applied for visitor visa, can anyone tell what is the normal processing time and if i need to get my passport back from embassy in case of emergency what is the procedure. help will be appreciated.

When & where did you apply??

I applied thorough London embassy, on 19th of this month. I didn't knew it takes longer time for visitor visa from London, I am just worried because I had to travel to home country in February, how can I get my passport back any clues without any decision, in case if they delay unnecessarily.
