Hello!

My Husband and I have made plans to visit the U.S and my family for Christmas.

I'm hoping to have my visa by then, but obviously not holding my breath, so I'm trying to get the information together to try and make my entry back into Canada as a visitor waiting for permanent residency as stress free as humanly possible.

We have all of our receipts for our fees. All have been paid.

I have an expired visitor visa that I applied for and am waiting for the result on my next extension that I sent out in August.
My husband can get a letter from his employer and will be with me going through customs to prove he will be taking care of me financially.

What should I say to the officer when they ask how long I plan to stay?
We will be going through customs in the city where we live, which is a bit smaller, so I think that make it a bit less stressful and easy.

Any other information or advice would be appreciated! We want to make sure getting back into Canada will be fairly easy before we buy our tickets.

Hi

Just say that you are waiting out the PR process as a visitor with your spouse. Proof of the app and proof of finances should be more than enough. That far in the process, there is pretty no chance that you will be refused entry.

Something that nobody seems to understand is that once in the port of entry,
the spouses are not likely to be refused entrance to Canada.

They can refuse a visa, but once in the port of entry its very unlikely that the spouse
will be rejected.

I don't think that you will have any problem at all... just get all the proofs that you can get,
and the most important one will be your husband with you.

Enjoy your trip and Merry Christmas

The stress of getting back in is the only issue and is causing me terrible anxiety. Thanks for calming my nerves!

We also have the receipt from my medical exam, should probably bring that too right?

No need. They will be able to see your application in the system.

exactly, all they will do is use your passport to look your information up in their system and confirm your application status. once they see that information, they won't give you any trouble, especially if you are so close to the end.
