My wife, 8 yo daughter and I are students in the USA (under F visas) crossing by car from Seattle to Vancouver. We have been in Seattle for abour 8 months studying English. Now our course is ending next week and I think I am going to get our passports (with our Canadian visas) after that. I got a study permit for a Master program, my wife is going to continue her English studies and my daughter is going to elementary.
I would like to cross the border and stay in Vancouver for a weekend in order to find a place to stay and then come back to Seattle to rent a U-haul for moving out my stuff.
Do you think I could have any king of troubles crossing twice the border by car?

1. It depends. Are you from a visitor visa exempt country? If so, no problem as long as you can return to the US. If you are not, you need a TRV (visitor visa).
Unfortunately, we are not from a visa exempt country. We are expecting to get our visitor visa along with our study permit within a couple of weeks.
Also, we have tourist visa to return to USA.
The thing is that a friend, who is US citizen, told me that the officers at the border were picky. Asking a lot of questions and probably refusing the entry if it does not make sense for them.
