I am quite confused with this term. Does this refer to the person who's in Canada or the one outside? For example, my mother is in Canada and her family she's sponsoring is in Philippines. Who's the principal applicant? My mother or my father? Thanks

The person, or persons, that are APPLYING for Permanent Resident status...NOT the person that is the Canadian citizen, or PR, that is sponsoring the applicant.
