If a Canadian citizen based in Canada wishes to sponsor their common-law partner (on work permit in Canada) for PR, but has sponsored a spouse/common-law partner twice before, is this likely to be a problem with immigration? The couple can show all proofs of genuineness of current relationship. However, am curious about whether officers look at previous sponsorships in same category.

This makes sense, thank you, and there are all available proofs for the current relationship because they live together and are clearly very committed. They are wondering about previous relationships and whether those will be examined in detail, primarily because of sudden breakdown of one sponsored relationship (more than 15 years ago).

'They'...should not be expecting a quick process, but hopefully a successful one.
Agree with @scylla here; three two previous sponsorships (assuming they're all spouse or common law sponsorships) will certainly warrant a deeper dive on the part of the officer.

Indeed, that's to be expected. Since one partner is on a work permit and can get into the EE pool in a few months, that's probably going to be about the same length of time and invite significantly less scrutiny from immigration. Thanks for your input.
