Hi seniors,
One of my relative's wife is pregnant and due in october
They will be landing second time in toronto and does not have OHIP card
They are planning to land in aug or sept (depend upon situation and doctor's permission)
Is there any option to get insurance coverage?
If not what will be the total cost for delivery?

No insurance I know of will cover childbirth and delivery for a woman who is already pregnant. She will not get OHIP until 3 months. She can ask at some hospitals if they have reduced rates for people who are PR and are waiting for OHIP. She can look into a home birth with a midwife. I have heard numbers between 5 and 10 thousand but if there are complications, it can get expensive very fast.
Thx a lot leon

Unfortunately Leon is right, no insurance company in Canada will cover delivery expenses or routine prenatal care. A few companies cover emergencies related to pregnancy but only up to 31 week, so your friend won't be able to be covered since she is arriving late in her pregnancy. Try contacting midwives, as they charge less for the delivery.
There is a recent message here: http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/how-much-will-it-cost-to-give-birth-wo-ohip-t139251.0.html;msg2280560#msg2280560 listing a free clinic in Scarborough and some volunteer midwives as well.
