Hi

I read through threads regarding the minimum income for sponsoring spouse and common law parter. It seems there's no minimum income requirements.

However, I am a full-time student and only do some uber whenever I am available. In other word, I don't have much saving and stable income. I am not on social welfare and not receiving any government assistance. How can I best prepare for my financial detail to convince the immigration officer that I can assist my partner financially once he landed in Canada? Will it make big difference if I find a stable part time job while as a student to show that?

My partner has lived with me in Canada for almost 1.5 year(on visitor visa and working holiday visa). We got joint account, bank statement to the same address, and both name on lease....etc. He got working experience in Canada as well. Does this helpful for demonstrating his employability thus lifting some pressure on my financial situation?

Thanks a lot!!

They don't care about his employability. They will want evidence that you can provide his basics e.g. good
Food shelter and clothing. My partner is in university and her parents will be providing a letter explaining how they will support us if we need help... because, as cic would assume, we'd struggle if the OWP takes a while to come through or we get an unexpected bill

You can include a plan of how you will support yourselves in the application. You can talk about the jobs you both want, why you think you might be able to get them (that is, mention the education and experience of both of you), where you will live, any savings either of you have, etc. If a family member will be providing support, such as money or a place to stay, mention this and get them to provide an affidavit stating this.

Thanks for the info!! It's really helpful.

Btw, I don't know if this matter.
Since I am already 28 years old (I am doing my master degree), will asking my parents to support make immigration officer got the impression that I have no capability taking care of my own life?

thanks!

No, it is OK. If you do not have an income, or a low income, and will be staying with family, then getting them to write a letter or affidavit saying so, or offering monetary support, will help your application.
