I am already a permanent resident in Canada, I have lived there for 4 years as a PR before I started studying here in PH last March of 2018. I am planning to come back in Canada this June of 2019 for summer vacation for almost 2 months before I go back to PH to continue my course. Will it affect my permanent residency status? Or I just need to keep on going back every year so I can maintain my status? Need help, asap! Thank you!
No effect this year. Any time you spend in Canada will count towards residency. But be aware that after your first renewal, the RO must changes to 3 years in Canada in the past 5 years calculated at the date of entry. Depending on how long your studies are, sometime around early 2021 you will need to watch your days in Canada.
It means I have nothing to worry this year up to 2020 right? Then I should start counting a 5 yr rolling period in 2020 so I can make up to atleast 3 yrs in 5 yrs rolling period?
Think @Buletruck made a typo. You only need to be in Canada for 2 out of 5 years. Now that you are over the first 5 years PR you need to have been in Canada 2 out of 5 years on any day. You don't need to return to Canada yearly. You actually should take out health insurance because you no longer meet the residency requirement to use healthcare in your province. This has already been discussed with you. If you look at your planned graduation date and you have still stayed in Canada over 730 days in the 5 years before that date you are fine.
