If by "everybody", you mean immigration consultants who want to lock you into a very lengthy contract, sure. The only real benefit of a student visa is perhaps the chance to get a PGWP to get Canadian work experience, but it is very expensive and takes several years.

Having student visa does not guaranty PR. You may end up spending time and money for courses that you don't really need and not getting PR status at the end. I would suggest to put all effort on getting PR through EE.

That is a qualitative statement and is debatable. Recently even their government has proclaimed to make the immigration process much easier for those who are international students studying in Canadian universities. Nonetheless, most of these typical express entrees will also require to finish further education for them to be eligible to get decent jobs.
