My wife landed as Live in Caregiver last May 2007, and then she sponsored me and get my immigrant VISA. I was landed as an immigrant last FEB 2012,upon my stay in canada, i secure my PR card, SIN, health card, open bank account, etc. After i secure all the necessary documents i decided to go back in my country last MAY 2012 to continue my un finished business and settle some personnal matters. My problem is this, my wife called me and insisting that i should come back to Canada before mid of AUGUST or else my PR will revoke/void. We are arguing about this matter since i came back in our country. She always telling me that my case is different because i was sponsored by a LIVE IN CAREGIVER. She told me that there is a new rule from CIC that iam only allowed 3 months outside CANADA if iam a new immigrant. HOW TRUE IS THIS? I have a round trip ticket but since i didnt yet finish all the things that i have to settle, i am planning to come back on FEB 2013...IS IT POSSIBLE I CAN COME BACK AT THAT TIME WITHOUT HASSLE AT POE? thanks in advance GOD BLESS
The rules are the same for everyone once you have a PR card. As long as you live in Canada two out of every five rolling years - you will retain your PR status. You can return in February 2013 and there will be no problems.
There is no 3 month rule.
And the rules are not different because you were sponsored by a live in caregiver. The rules for keeping PR are the same for everyone.
It sounds like your wife misses you and that's why she may be making up these rules. Being separated must be difficult for her. Perhaps you should talk to her about this.
