HI all,

wanted to make sure I am doing the right applications so as to facilitate a smooth process.

I am now in the process of applying for my PR to be done inland...I am currently living with my husband in Canada under a visitors pass that will expire on February.. need some advise, should I:

1) Apply just for the PR (then wait for updates before applying for Work Permit and Visa extension?)
2) apply for PR and Work Permit?
3) Apply for PR visa with Work Permit AND Visa extension

I am putting on hold the submission of my papers until I see if there is anything else I would need to add..

I've replied to threads but just wanted to post a seperate thread in case anyone would have the same question

Thanks

No, submit the extension application WITH your inland PR application so that you protect your temporary status. It's important that your PR ap and the extension application are received by CPC-Vegreville BEFORE your visitor status expires. You can opt for an "initial work permit" on the extension application - include the $150 fee and write across the top of the extension application "OPEN WORK PERMIT APPLICATION - DO NOT PROCESS UNTIL FIRST STAGE APPROVAL". Be aware that it will take 8-9 months from the time that CPC-V receives your application before they assess it for first stage approval, so including the extension application with the PR ap protects your temporary status and allows you to remain in Canada under "implied status". If you are found to be an eligible spousal/common-law applicant, you will automatically receive an open work permit that will carry you through as your temporary status until your PR application is approved. If there are "issues" with your application, it will be transferred to your local CIC office before the OWP is issued and that could delay your processing for up to a couple of years.

Please be aware that you have the option to apply outland, even while you are staying in Canada. In order to do that you would submit your PR application to CPC-Mississauga and, after your sponsor is approved, it will be transferred to the embassy that represents your country of birth. You can find our which embassy that is by going to this page of the CIC website, and processing timelines are listed here. In the meantime, in order to remain in Canada, you'll apply separately to extend your visitor status (you won't be eligible for a work permit under this scenario but, typically, processing times to actually receiving permanent status are much faster) with proof of your "qualifying" relationship and your outland PR ap in process. Remember - by applying outland you preserve your right to appeal a refusal and, if you end up having to go back home for any reason, your PR application process is not jeapordized. Inland applicants are encouraged not to leave Canada while their applications are in process because, if they can't get back into Canada they're application is forfeited. In addition, if an inland ap is refused, there is no appeal.

I am just wondering what reason did you show at the port of entry or at the airport when coming to canada when asked by immigration? Unfortunately, I was married before and when i was getting into Canada, and when the immigration officer asked me what is your purpose, I said, I want to see my sister who is sick and also what I do etc. Since I was international student In US, I showed her my US University Documents and They let me in. Now when applying the extension of the visa, they want to know what reason I came into canada? Since I have been living with my husband, and applying for inland application. I am a little confused on that of what do to.

Can you help how did you handled?
