PR IN CANADA BUT PLANNING TO STUDY OUTSIDE THE COUNTRY

As soon as I renew my PR card is it possible for me to stay in the Philippines for 11 months each year? And just continue the remaining last 2 years in my 5 rolling period? Which means I will be in Canada for 2 years and 4 months (enough yrs to keep my PR status)

Will it be alright? And if i will be planning to study on those 11 months, is there going to be any problem? Please let me know. Thank you!!!

After renewal, it 2 years at any time In the previous 5 years. So depending on the time you spent in Canada in the first 5 years, you could end up short of RO. The requirement after renewal is different than the first 5 years.

Do you mean I have to stay for 2 years first before I could go out the country? So I am so confused.

I became a PR since 2014 it will expire in June 2019 that is why I will renew it on January. I have lived here for almost 4 yrs which means my first 5 yr rolling period is good. My problem now is for the 2nd rolling period. It will be 2019-2024. But I will study in PH from 2019, as soon as im done renewing my PR, until early 2022. But i will be going back and forth every year. And after I graduate I will continue my remaining 2 years starting 2022-2024 so I can accumulate the required 2 yrs stay in Canada to remain my PR. That is what i am planning to do but I am not sure if that will be fine and acceptable.

Will they allow me if I do that? Stay out of Canada for 11 months right after I renew my PR? and then leave again then just comeback after 11 months? then after 33 months in total, just accumulate the 2 years in the last 2 yrs of my rolling 5 yr period?

with 4 years in Canada in the 5 before renewal, you should be ok. Just remember after renewal, you need the 2 years in the last 5 at any time you enter Canada.

As long as you have the 730 days in the previous 5 years, they won’t stop you coming and going. There is no rule you have to stay in Canada. You just have to meet RO.

If you plan on settling in Canada I would really consider doing your postsecondary studies in Canada. It will be much easier to find a job If you have a Canadian degree. It can be very hard to get your foreign credentials recognized.

You are now eligible to apply for citizenship.. just go for that

I think that you are misunderstanding the nature of the "5 years rolling period". It's not 5 year chunks, it's continuous. Once you have been a permanent resident for 1825 days, you must, at any time, be able to look back 1825 days from the current date and have at least 730 of those days as contributing days to meet the residency obligation requirements. Also, ignore the dates on your PR card. They are not relevant to the RO calculations.

Still very confused about why you are not studying in Canada. If you are going to something like medical school anticipate that it will be almost impossible to practice in Canada.
