So my family (myself, wife and 1 year old son) received confirmation of our permanent residency in March. We are still in Australia and weren't planning on landing in Canada until October.
As of today we have just found out that my wife is pregnant (only 4wks). Our understanding is that once we land in BC (we are moving to Vancouver Island) we have a waiting period of 3months before we are covered by BC Health. Is this correct?
1. Has anyone experienced this?
2. Do we just email CIC and advise them that my wife is pregnant and will be when we land?
3. If we aren't covered under BC health do we just have to pay for any doctors appointments needed until our waiting period is over?
Re: PR Confirmed MARCH......just found out wife is pregnant
Last year I had a friend moved to Vancouver from the US and had only 1-2 months left before her due date. She couldn't get any medical coverage + you have to register way in advance for the baby delivery. At the end, she ended up paying CAD$10,000 to deliver the baby.

So your friend didn't receive MSP in time then?
My wife will be 23 weeks when we arrive in Canada and our BC Health waiting period will be over when she is 32 weeks. Thus, being covered from 32 weeks until delivery i'm guessing?
