i am a scottish guy and have been in canada nearly 5 years and my PR card expires june 16. i need to leave to go to scotland for an urgent family matter in about 2 weeks. i'll be gone for a month (possibly more), and it was about 65 days ago i applied to renew my PR card. if it doesn't come by the time i leave, am i right in saying i need a travel document from a canadian embassy in scotland to cover myself coming back to canada??!! or if i return before june 16 i can still use my card and if any questions asked just explain i applied to renew my card?! just want to make sure i have all bases covered before i leave. i am a PR so guessing there shouldnt be any problems.
1. PR Card is basically used by airlines/immigration officials to ensure that you have legal status in Canada.
2. You are originally from a visa-exempt country, hence it is very unlikely that you would be turned back
3. You have already met the requirements of maintaining your PR status (stay in Canada 2 out of 5 years)

1. If you return before your PR card expires, you don't require anything
2. If you intend to return after June 16th, with a UK&C passport, I wouldn't bother applying for a TD, the VO on entry will determine you have maintained your PR.
