All my family members (2Ad+2Chld) got a PR cards in May2011 (exp. May 2015). However, our plans has changed and we decided do not move to CA but send only our 14 year old son to private school in Ontario. As I understand he has a personal residence history and after 730 days in Canada can apply for PR card renewal, right?
My questions are:
1) Who should prepare all the applications for PR card renewal?
2) Does it matter that I will lose the PR satus and couldn't renew my PR card for myself?
3) Should he wait for the new PR card in Canada? I am just worried that in case of PR delay he could miss a semester at school.
3) Yes, because it is a renewal, there is a chance that he will be asked to pick it up in person. If he is, he may need an adult to go with him but you'll have to cross that hurdle if/when you get to it.
Yes. You can actually assign him a custodian. Immigration has a standard form letter here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/pub/custodian-parent.pdf This would be required for a minor child who is alone in Canada on a study permit but even if nobody asks you about it for a PR, it may still be a good idea to have an assigned person who will take care of his problems when you are out of reach. You should ask the school if they can assign a person to be his custodian.
Yes, for the PR card application, you would list his mailing address in Canada (school) and if they do not mail it, they will ask him to pick it up at the CIC office location nearest to that school.
