I landed on 13th of November
And returned to US on 26th for a family emergency
And want to go back to canada again soon
The processing time for new landed PR is 19 days
When I saw it on 15th November.
So is it true that it takes less than a month
Coz I have had people wait for 4 months for getting the PR
Does the published date match the actual time of getting the PR card.
the processing time is usually based on when you landed, not the current processing. it's really hit and miss. some people get their card within 4-6 weeks or sooner, and some take longer because of a "Verification" process or delivery issues.
my card was processed and mailed out on oct 21, and i still have not received it, so i'm assuming it's lost in the mail. unfortunately CIC won't consider it "lost" until 6 weeks has passed.
if you are a us citizen or visa exempt, then you don't need to worry about needing your pr card to reenter canada. if you are flying, you just need your passport to get on the plane, and the stamped COPR to enter canada. if you are driving, again all you need is your passport and COPR.
Unfortunately I am an indian citizen, so I have to travel with pr card.....
So waiting for I don't know how long now.
It's been 2 weeks I hope to get it by December hopefully.
then you don't need your pr card. walking is assumed to be the same as driving - you are crossing by land. as far as i know, all you need is your copr and passport.
yes, when you walk, you are crossing the SAME border drivers are on LAND. you are not flying and not entering through an airport. if you don't believe me, then call the border you intend to walk through and ask them.
rcohen, ur right, i did call cbsa at rainbow bridge and they said that i could use copr while crossing the bridge.
i am 6 hrs away from the border, so i gotta cross someday..

I will be doing the same. Unfortunately, I am not in Canada right now. I left in October a week after landing and have my re-entry planned for March 2015
