Hello,
We landed in Oct 2009 via road from US but did not get the PR card. Can anyone advise on:
1) what is the process to reapply for PR if it was not issued within 6 months of Landing. My understanding is that the application has to be done from within canada?
2) Is it ok to have only the Principal applicant return to Canada first and reapply for PR from within canada for all the family members (wife & son) or do all the family members needs to be present to reapply?
3) Is it possible to enter canada thru road using the COPR ? Would the Canadian IO at that point allow or disallow entry since the PR was not issues within 180 days ?. (Technically we are still within the 1035 days). So would there be any minimum stay requirement than?
1. See: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/prcard.asp You have to apply for new PR cards and pay the fees.
2. You can apply, but all you have to attend the CIC office to pick them up.
3. As long as you are not traveling commercial, and you have not lost your residency, you will be allowed in.
1. If you don't have a PR card, you can't get on a plane or bus or ship to get to Canada, as they won't carry you. (So will if you are from a visitor visa exempt country)
2. You have reside in Canada for 2 years in every 5 year period to maintain your PR status.
