I am looking for some advice on a unique situation. I was issued a PR card in Jan 2008 and I was out of the country for business and personal reasons, I did travel to Canada over 50 times but the total days spent did not exceed 200. I relocated to Canada end of 2012 and I am living and working in Canada for a Canadian company my PR card expired in Jan 2013. I was advised I could not apply for renewal till I finish the 730 days in Dec 2014. :'(
I need to travel in May this year for business reasons to the UK however I would have completed on 600 days - is there anyway the company can help me get travel papers or if I can apply for the same?
Appreciate any sound professional advice or someone who has been in a similar situation.
You were given correct advice with regards to your PR card renewal. You won't qualify to renew it until you have met the residency requirement by living in Canada for 730 days out of the past 5 years.
Travel documents can only be obtained once a person is outside of Canada. However there's certainly a large risk your travel document would be refused since your PR card has expired and you don't meet the residency requirement.
