I am a PR applicant (spousal) and got letter's of acceptance today for the local school district so that I can apply for study permits. The lady that typed up the letters and helped me with the process said that some people just go down to the border rather than applying/ waiting for approval. Can you go to a border crossing to get a study permit? I have never heard this and don't want to drive 3 hours to find out I can't and then may not be allowed back into Canada.
I think this is called 'flag polling'. Lots of people have written about getting different permits on it. Just search on this site or on google. You will see lots stories and steps.
Hope it helps. cheers bradybunchmom (awesome name)
