PPR vs PR confirmation Portal

Hi, I am sponsoring my partner for inland common law. She recently received pre-arrival service email and both our trackers have been updated to eligibility completed, medical passed and biometrics received. Seems only back ground check left. We have a week long trip planned for beginning of September, we were worried if the PPR comes early then we might have to email CIC for extension (we applied/mailed on July 6, never in 1000 years thought they d be so fast, thats why we booked the trip), however, recently i have noticed many inland applicants, regardless of from visa exempt country or not, getting PR confirmation portal instead of PPR, is this a new thing? who is getting the portal and who getting PPR? No need to mail passport out is definitely good, but is there a time limit for the portal as well? it would be ideal to reply the portal email when we are back in Canada of course, hope any one with experience can help us. Thank you!
