PPR and passport validity

I found this blog a lady in Philippine got her PPR in March 2016. Her PPR shows a required validity of her passport to be at least 12 months from the date of the PPR letter.

This worries me because I'm waiting for PPR and already booked a trip back home to renew my passport, thinking that it should be valid for only 6 months plus.

What factors determine the required validity of the passport?

Could anyone share their required valid of his/her passport from the PPR they received?

Look for other members who have the same VO as you do, I also noticed Manila VO requires 12 months all the time.
