We have got our PPR email yesterday and LVO is New Delhi. I know this question has been asked before but not able to make sense of the answers for my situation.

My spouse's passport is just short of 6 months validity by a few days (expires end of Feb). PPR states there should be at least 6 months left on it.

Should I try stamping the visa on the existing passport? Our medicals runs out on 9 Feb so anyway we will have to land before that (November is what we are hoping).

1. Would it be a waste of time to try with NDVO and they would return the passport?

2. If that is the case would they reject my application at this stage?

3. If I apply for renewal and I raise a CSE will they extend 30 day rule?

Thanks

They want at least 6 months validity on the passports for PPR. They won’t accept less than that.

You are better off renewing the passport asap. You should notify them of your situation and request an extension.

Thank you.. Do you know if they will allow the rest of us (PA and dependents) to send our passports and submit my spouse's at a later date? Or do they have to be submitted at the same time..

You should inform them first and wait for their reply. If they take too long to reply, just send them all the passports as a last resort and include a LOE explaining your spouse’s situation.

This is only my opinion based on your situation. They won’t reject your application, but they will delay your application until your spouse gets a new passport.

Thank you. As we wait for their reply, I will have to apply for the new pp.. so I would have to send them my spouse's passport which has been stamped as cancelled.. so this was my concern.. that at least now the pp has around 6 months.. but once I apply for renewal it's essentially void and they may not stamp anything on it for sure.. anyway I am planning to submit cse today with explanation and appointment receipt for pp renewal ..
