Which is more important to you? The citizenship or your trip?
You should know the answer better than anyone here.
Yes, they allow postponing your ceremony but you have to contact them with a roof that you are back in Canada. From there, they will start rescheduling, which might take 3-6 months.
In case you postpone our flight, the citizenship certificate will arrive within 3 weeks. And another 2-3 months to get a Canadian passport.
Another way you can do this is to delay your flight a few days, attend the ceremony, ask your friends here to mail the certificate to your home country, and apply for a Canadian passport there.
My experience of postponing the ceremony was not nearly as bad as that- where does this "3-6 months" figure come from? My initial ceremony was supposed to take place on April 26, but as I was travelling the following week I postponed it. I told them I would be back on June 28, and the new date they gave me was July 6- only eight days after I came back. So unless you urgently need the citizenship for some reason, I would suggest to postpone the ceremony.

The 3-6 month period as quoted comes from many posts by many different individuals who have posted on here, for the sake of $600/700 (yes a lot of money), I'd personally delay your departure....however noting that you could wait for your citizenship certificate and then apply for a Canadian passport which all in all will probably take approximately 4/5 months from your oath. Or the gentleman could leave and have his citizenship cert forwarded onto him and then apply from the country that he is in....but again with the proviso that to get that Canadian passport he may be waiting 3-4 months based on personal experience having applied from the UK
