Postdoc applicant should use NOC 4011 despite their duties mismatch? I worked in Canada as a postdoc for two years, I got ITA few days ago for EE under CEC. Now I am confused which NOC to select. This is what written in the CIC website, "For post-doctoral fellows who are employed by a Canadian university or educational institution, the 2011 NOC code should be 4011." However, as a postdoc, its difficult to match my duties with the ones written under 4011. Specially I did not do any teaching in Canada, which seems essential under NOC 4011. Most of my duties matches with 2147. Anyone got any suggestions? Please help.

Hello, can I know which NOC code you used for your application? If it is 4011, did your application get accepted?

Hi, Thanks for your question. I think I used 4011, and I am still waiting for the result. I also explained in the letter of explanation that 2047 matches many of my job duties. I submitted the application in June 2017. The status is background checking. Do not know what will happen. Thanks.

Thanks a lot. Could you please send me a sample of what you wrote in your experience letter for the duties?

Please be informed that my application is still pending, so its not a good idea to do what I have done. However, if it helps you, this is what I wrote in the explanation letter:
I have selected NOC code 4011 (University professors and lecturers) as my primary NOC code, because many of my job duties as a post-doctoral research fellow match this NOC. If I am not wrong cic.gc.ca website also advised the post-doctoral research fellows to select it. However, 4011 include all the fields (Biology, Physics, Civil, Electrical and so on). So you may want to know my background specifically. In that case, please be informed that I am an Engineer and my expertise and area of work falls under NOC code 2147.

Thanks. I would be grateful, if you share with me the PostDoc duties you wrote in your job experience letter.

Hi @guru319 may I have a follow up to your case? I'm also in the similar situation and I'm about to submit my application. I was in a university for a year as a postdoc so the NOC was 4011 on the LMIA-exempt file; later I moved to a hospital but still worked as postdoc, but they gave me an NOC 2011 on the LMIA-exempt file since this is not an educational institute, and spent another year. As I worked under both NOC for one year respectively, is that safe to use 4011 in the EE application?
